Student loan debt for senior citizens? Yep, that’s the American education system at work.

April 3, 2012

Perhaps the single biggest issue I have with education in America is student loans, and specifically the fact that student loans have contributed to the obscene inflation in the cost of education.  An even bigger issue, however, is how completely inescapable federally guaranteed, privately serviced loans are.  Today’s piece is a short blurb about senior citizens who are still saddled with student loan debt far after retirement, possibly even having their social security checks garnished to pay for an education.

You tell me – do you think college is worth it if you are still paying it off when you’re retired?
